Hackamores

Hackamores are a type of bitless headgear that use pressure points in the mouth to control the horse. This is a good alternative for horses who respond better to pressure points rather than bits. The nose and poll are controlled using the pressure of the reins and headstall to control the horse. The shanks provide good leverage, just as the shanks on a curb bit do. A soft cushion usually lines the noseband to keep the horse comfortable. The shanks are stainless steel for durability. For bitless riding, a standard traditional hackamore is a preferred choice for a horse with special requirements.
